Setting limits on your professional time
At Snapclarity, we believe it is important for therapist to protect their mental health by determining your own limits for how often and for how long you will be interacting with clients each day.
Communicating availability to clients
During your initial video chat with clients, it is important to clearly inform clients about these limits. For some of you, you may visit the platform on your lunch break, others may check before bed, and some early in the morning. Informing clients about when and how long you will be interacting on the platform and can alleviate client anxieties about whether their messages have been heard.
Revisiting communication limits
It can also be helpful to continue to revisit the conversation about availability with clients. For example, if you are going to be away from your online practice for a day or two, please let your clients know when you will be away from the platform and when you will be returning to the platform.
Being sure to have these conversations upfront can only benefit both parties.
